I got Liberated!
My journey and my experience of getting Liberation Treatment in India
My Hospital
The Medanta Medicity Hospital in Gurgaon, New Delhi, the brand new hospital where I was liberated.
My Hospital Room
No one told the designers at Medanta that you can’t have colour in a hospital room. Yellow walls? A mural? Other walls were other colours. Haven’t they heard of institutional blah? Dave’s bed is unseen, but his was off to the right.
Colours in my Room
Like I said, they don’t know real hospitals use institutional grey, green and beige.

Off to be liberated
Going for the Treatment
Getting closer…
My Doctor
Dr. Vipul Gupta, the wonderful interventional radiologist who did the surgery, post-op
My Neurology Team
My awesome neurologist, Dr. Sumit Singh, and his colleague Dr. Tariq. Incidentally, my ensemble makes hospital gowns in the West seem like cruel and unusual punishment. Only problem is that the one-size-fits-all aspect means the pants are hard to keep from falling down.
My Nurse
Many wonderful sisters looked after me. This woman is maybe 4-ft tall. She wasn’t one of my attendants but one day she just rushed into my room and kissed me on both cheeks. She also came in on my last day to wish me well and say good-bye. She liked my hair. I had quite a few people come in just to stare at me for a moment. Indians love colour so I love Indians.
My Hospital Lobby
Dave and me standing in front of this gorgeous tree sculpture, which is in the lobby of the hospital. In Hindu philosophy, it is customary to tie a thread to a tree to wish for a safe and successful outcome for a loved one undergoing treatment for a health issue. I got to add one, even though after the fact.
Tying the thread
I take a thread from the beautiful bowl and tie it to the tree. Watching is the international marketing co-ordinator, who was helpful from the first inquiry we made from Canada.
Shopping Time
I went shopping! I can’t remember the last time I went to a store, tried things on, picked other things and tried them on, etc. It wasn’t all that easy though. Dave had to come into the change rooms with me, but what the heck, I came back to the guest house in New Delhi with these two bags!
“Dave and I both want to thank you for
everything you did to make coming here happen for us. I had an excellent experience at Medanta. I can’t imagine how it would be possible to receive better care. The sisters were just great and the doctors? I can’t say enough about them.
So thanks again, a thousand times. And our very best wishes to you.”-Dia M, Toronto, Canada
